Floyd Central High School Bowling
October 24th 2023:
Yesterday we competed against Silver Creek High School at Strike and Spare.
This was a very successful match gaining 11 out of 12 points.
Fan Wear Orders are being submitted to the printing company today, In total we compiled nearly $900 in shirt and hoodie orders! Our bowling club receives a percentage of this to help offset practice costs and will be able to provide equipment and pro shop services to the student bowlers.
Practice this Wednesday at Strike and Spare 5pm,
Sunday's practice may be cancelled, I feel we need a rest as we have had a month of 3 days-a-week and that the oil pattern that Blackiston Bowl has been providing for our practices lately has not been equal to what we see when bowling the match pattern.
October 19th 2023:
Update: We have had 2 successful weeks of team competition at Blackiston Bowl.
The first week we competed head-to-head against Clarksville High School
The second week we competed against the bye. The bye is due to having an odd
number of teams in the league. 9 to be exact. We shouldn't face the bye again
this year.
Hayden, Bryce, Cooper, Shooter, Samuel
Reminder, on Monday Oct 23, match will be played at Strike and Spare. Please be there by 4:30pm.
Wednesday Practices at Strike and Spare 5pm.
Sunday Practices at Blackiston Bowl 5pm.
Fanwear order form is available now. Updated design from last year thanks to Bryce Newkirk and family for the assistance in getting this together!

Welcome to 2023-2024 High School Bowling Season
Greetings Floyd Central Bowling Family!
My name is Chris Nalley, I will be taking over the role of Bowling Coach and Coordinator for Floyd Central Highschool’s Bowling Team from Jason Cromwell. Jason will be still be around working with me on the transition of roles and assisting. Additionally, Chris McCue who is the coach for Highland Hills Middle School Bowling Team will also be assisting.
About me
For those of you that bowled on the team last year, you met me as an assistant to Jason and I got to know a lot of you during the practice and competitions.
I’m 51, born and raised in New Albany. Graduated class of 1990 from New Albany and 2005 from Louisville Speed School of Engineering. Currently working as IT Systems Architect for Elevance (Anthem) Healthcare. Married to April Butner for the past 18 years. I have a Daughter, Kyleigh that is 24, and a Son, Cooper that is 13 (He will be joining our team as a 8th grader JV bowler).
I’ve been bowling since I was (i think) 8 years old or so starting a Cadillac Lanes in New Albany!
Bowling Information:
This year we will be alternating matches between Blackiston Bowl and Clarksville Strike and Spare. The competition schedule is still a work in progress and should be completed by Labor Day.
The tentative schedule:
Oct 9 & 16: Blackiston Bowl
Oct 23 & 30: Strike and Spare
Nov 6 & 13: Blackiston Bowl
Nov 20 & 27: Strike and Spare
Dec 4: Blackiston Bowl
Dec 11: Strike and Spare
Match start time will be 4:30 PM each day
Our matches will follow the same format as last year. 2 games of 5 person team bowling competing against another school. Followed by 2 games of Baker format bowling. Baker formate is 5 bowlers, alternating turns where each bowling will bowl 2 frames. IE: First bowler will bowl in the 1st frame and then again in the 6th frame,
For those unfamiliar with Baker format, please view this information: http://www.bowlingdepot.ca/baker.html
Practice:
Last year we had practice on Sunday evenings starting at 5pm ending around 7pm.
I want to get a poll if this time is still viable for all, we have the option to practice on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings as well.
I plan to rotate practice between Blackiston and Strike and Spare at the house that leads up to that week’s competition.
I would like to start “official” practices during week of September 24th, 2 weeks before competition begins.
If anyone wishes to practice before that, please let me know and I’ll be happy to coordinate with those that want to.
